Answering the fair questions about the Fair Pay Agreements Bill

After several years of working groups, public discussion and anticipation, the Fair Pay Agreements Bill was introduced to Parliament on 29 March 2022 and received its first reading on 5 April.

The Bill will undoubtedly undergo changes as a result of the parliamentary process before becoming law. But as it currently stands, the Bill is the starting point for what may become the most significant shift in New Zealand’s employment law landscape in over 20 years through the introduction of Fair Pay Agreement bargaining.
